A small note that this house is primarily existent for informative backstory purposes. There are no active players within it- Though I'd be open to discussing such. I am also happy to plot relations regarding them with others!

House Archambeau

The Archambeaus, are, for all intents and purposes, not a noble family. Despite this, they have been noted by outsiders to hold themself to exceedingly high standards which rival that of nobles. Whispers and thinly-veiled ambitions have shown them to have aspirations for nobility, however. Perhaps this alone has led them to be such a reclusive, uptight people.

Investments

House Archambeau prides itself in the production of a vast array of textiles, though a staple for their family are the intricate tapestries and massive rugs. None can deny the quality of their work, nor would they allow anyone to. Gaudy floral patterns seem to be the primary motif in all of their intricate work, with greens and golds being the signature colors of any family-related pieces. Their rugs are known to be massive enough to span across the entirety of some common-folk’s homes, and more often than not serve as tapestries in instances where they do not fit along the floors of homes.

As time has passed, they’ve expanded their horizons to the investment of sericulture. Silk production, highly specialized, is an expenditure returned tenfold for the Archambeaus, as not only has it brought prosperity, but reputation. Nobles are the most frequent proprietor of such a product, afterall, and any tie to nobility is an extra nail to secure the canvas of their legacy.

Culture

Every family has its quirks. The expectations placed upon one’s shoulders is often what shapes them. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, the Archambeaus cultivate an abundance of expectation that has been deeply seeded from the roots of a long-lived family. Once a tradition is set, it is difficult to dance around, and even harder to uproot. The Archambeau's roots, in particular, span many, many years.

For as long as any member of the family can remember, they’ve dealt with nobility. Good clothing and fabric is often considered a luxury, more so than a necessity. This lucrative handling of their coveted artform has levied them a collective ego, and made their wares inaccessible in pricing to many. Despite producing lines of clothing considered more “friendly” to the common man’s budget, any clients within this bracket have often reported feeling “othered” by the Archambeaus, making business with them as a typical citizen uncomfortable at best, and demeaning at worst. All of these issues, however, are smoothed over with silken-clad blows and a smiling business-front as false as the teeth of nobility itself.

The expectations set toward the newer generations of the family are no better. The Archambeaus have had their fair share of family deserters, thanks to the strict and uptight nature of the family. Whilst there are undoubtedly some good apples, they tend to only exist further from the tree, where the sun warms through dappled light amidst the shade of their forefathers. Those toward the front of the family, however, possess little autonomy or control over the direction of their life. Daughters are expected to marry into wealth, and sons are expected to grow into inheritance. Childhoods are laid thick with life lessons, customs, and oftentimes, depleted of love.

History

  • Old money family that stakes their claim via flowery flaunts of hard work (Despite recent investment in much less well-paid workers in order to stave off some of the workload). Their claims hold some truth, but the honor and beauty of their work has been blatantly tarnished thanks to generations of separation from their more humble beginnings. Passion was killed in favor of industry.
  • A family whose roots span past that of Sanctuary- Having been hailed as nobility from a region long dead for hundreds of years. They cling to that legacy, in a manner more depressing than loyal.
  • TBD.
