Shardlings of Nature

Nymph Table.png

A shardling race known to come from the influence of The Children of The Forest after the collapse. The first known Nymphs came to be akin to a curse to man, changing the forms of human and elf alike to fit in the image of the godling. It was not always an entire family facing this disruption, sometimes a single child, but always enough to taint the full bloodline.

In the modern era Nymphs are hardly created through the influence of the godlings, though some families are surprised to find a newborn changed nonetheless by distant blood. Sometimes children born to a Nymph appear as their ancestors once did, perhaps a distant mockery or a fading power.

NAIADS

Creatures born to man but tied to the seas, Naiads go by many names since their appearance within the world. Sirens, seafolk, and other various names exist to explain their appearances. Some see their existence as a blessing, proof of a godling’s love. Others believe it to be a curse, ripped from their ancestries by no fault of their own.

To a Naiad, there is no limit to where they can live. Both fresh and salt water can be used interchangeably, inhaled the same as air. On land, they appear as any other Human or Elf might, with a few distinct features.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Appearance
These distinct features appear as glass-like patterns of water along their skin. Similar to the
Naiad Table.png
markings of the Elves, families carry evolving patterns that change through the generations. No matter what form a Naiad may take, they also have visible gills somewhere along their form. The most common locations they can be found are either along the neck or on the ribs.

Once a Naiad enters the water they gain their Shardling Trait, growing a fish-like tail in place of legs. They experience a sharpening of their teeth and nails, taking on a more predatory appearance. Some experience their markings grow in size while in this damp form, only to return to its original appearance upon drying off.

Traits

Shardling - Once a Naiad comes into contact with water, their bodies transform. This change brings about a tail unique to each Naiad, resembling the aquatic life of the world. They remain in this form until they are dry to the touch.

While in this form, Naiads move speed on land is halved but doubled while within water. They gain an additional block of reach when attacking with their tail using an unarmed roll. No matter a Naiad’s appearance, they are always capable of breathing both air and water.

Omnivore - Naiads are able to consume all types of food and drink, both salt and freshwater. They will never suffer from natural food borne illnesses.

DRYADS

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Born of flowers and the trees, Dryads are akin to human sized pixies and sprites. They are said to smell of sunlight and the breeze, coveted by nature itself. Bodies that resemble spirits of the world, sprouting a crown of branches and aided in descent by a pair of insectoid wings.

Dryads are said to have a more human lineage than their other halves, but appear more touched by the godling. They are unable to blend into the masses, so marred by the grace of the world.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Appearance
Dryad Table.png
Dryads appear as one might expect a human stuck in a bush to look like. Branches grow harmlessly from their form, sprouting leaves and flowers alike. These tree-limbs can sprout in place of external organs, such as the eyes or even the ears but seemingly offer no impairment to their senses. Some find they grow no hair but instead petals and vines just the same. From their backs blossom a pair of wings, no two the same.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Traits

Shardling - The world seems to love the very existence of Dryads, flowers will visibly turn from sun to see a Dryad in passing. Blades of grass will caress around their legs and trees reach down harmlessly in yearning.
Small mundane wildlife is not inherently afraid of Dryads, and can understand simple sentences though they cannot reply in kind. Certain earthen creatures also view Dryads as neutral and will not attack them first unless provoked.

Limited Flight - While not capable of true flight, Dryads are able to aid their movement with the use of their wings. They will not suffer damage due to natural gravity, however they cannot bypass the effect of spells or other external forces. The base vertical jump height is also increased to 5 blocks. This trait can only be active if the Dryad has wings.
