House Maltrein

"Always Remember: A Brief Life Burns Brightly."
-Hama Druz

House History - The Tragedy of House Maltrein

House Maltrein is steeped in mystery, not due to obscure customs, secrecy, and intrigue, but due to the ravages of The Collapse and time. Any member would've gladly told any that would lend their ear about the lush fields, productive mines, and glorious prestige the House once held, but on Sanctuary the long-dead and abandoned territories mean nothing, if they ever existed at all. As the generations moved on and history turned to legend, legend into myth, and myth into rumor, the dwindling house was determined to strike back and reclaim their glory from the maw of oblivion, and so the House Head took all that was left, his wife and children, and sailed from Sanctuary to take back what he said what rightfully theirs! None but his son were ever seen again, and even he barely made it back alive.

House Values and Culture

The values of the House were thought to be of productivity and innovation, and some suspect that they may have even conducted a very robust marriage program to produce the "optimal heirs," but with the losses suffered resultant of the collapse these are but long forgotten memory, if not mere rumor. As far as the last surviving member is concerned, the only reasonable value of the House is Survival.

The culture of House Maltrein was suspected to be of Volkish in origin, but aside from some physical characteristics any semblance of that origin is lost, provided it's the truth in the first place. One of the last vestiges of this would be a tricorn currently worn by the House Head, one of the last family relics the House has any claim to, allegedly having been a favorite of the House Head at the time of The Collapse.

The current Head considers it to be his duty as custodian of what remains to preserve and recover what knowledge, customs, and history of the House so that it may one day rise to because at least a shadow of its former self from the verge of extinction.

Colors of the House

Red: Supposedly has its origin in the fires of the forges that powered the House's might, or from the burning of the fuel that powered those forges. Could also represent the blood shed to rise to power, to signify the power the House held itself, or it's strength and kinship. The origin of this color's meaning is disputed.

Blue: Has its origin in what is suspected to be a potential seafaring or river-reliant nature, either to provide for rich agriculture, industry, or trade routes bringing wealth and prosperity. The Blue may also stand for serenity and peace. The origin of this color's meaning is also disputed.

Yellow: The only color who's origin is known in certainty: The Light of the Sun represents virtue, morality, and perseverance, rising day after day without fail regardless of the darkness of the Night.

Roles of the House

House Head: As the name implies, the Head sees to all duties and responsibilities of leading the House.

The House was recorded to have a variety of roles, each with a unique purpose in whatever realm it once held. With The Collapse and end of whatever titles and holdings they claimed ownership of, nearly all became moot and forgotten. As of the present, the House Head is the only role that has any purpose or meaning due to the circumstances. Allegedly, the House had a history of preferring material invention to the arcane or magical arts and as such never held a position akin to a Court Mage, but rather had a position similar to a "House Inventor" of sorts, reasoned to have been tasked with developing and innovating at the behest and request of the House Head in whichever field he desired.

Current Members of House Maltrein

Blume Maltrein is the current House Head by process of elimination, there are no other living members of the House.
