All rules are subject to change at any time, so please keep yourself up to date on them.

Section A

Community and OOC Rules

The following rules exist to help moderate your OOC interactions when relating to the server.

1. We are an 18+ Server. Keep this in mind, Interaction off official discords or the server itself are not moderated directly, but anyone feeling unsafe with another member of the community should bring their concerns forward to the staff team.

2. Discrimination, of any kind, is not tolerated. Any instances of discrimination of fellow players or any individual via official server channels will result in a ban.

3. Be respectful in both voice and text chats. No one wants to hear you screaming down the mic, or read blocks of ALL CAPS TEXT TO DEMONSTRATE YOUR RAGE. Make use of the appropriate channels or forms of contact when needed. Requesting help in a general channel may get lost, which leads to frustration for you, and us.

4. Do not use the public forums, discord or in game channels to air grievances. If you have an issue with an individual, bring the issue to moderation, or attempt to discuss the issue in private.

5. The server is as much yours as it is ours, make it something you’d like to see, be polite, share your stories and help build excitement about our world.

6. The Staff are selected by the owners and admin team for a reason, make use of them when you need them, if you are unsure who is staff we are all tagged as such on the forums and on the server.

7. Loopholing rules is a bannable offense.

8. Anything submitted to the server (builds, lore, etc..) is subject to be changed over time. This can be from roleplay interactions, balancing needs, or due to no longer fitting to the server setting. Anything submitted to Sonder is done under the agreement that it becomes apart of the server and cannot be removed without owner approval, this is for the sake of consistency in an ever growing community.

9. Recording voice chats or streaming RP requires the consent of all parties involved on server or in the discord.

10.
Any skins created for use within the Sonder community—whether by members of the community or external contributors—may not be copied, modified, or used without the explicit permission of either the original artist or the commissioner of the skin. This restriction applies, but is not limited to: NPC Skins, Figura Monsters, Player Uniforms, and Custom Player Skins.

Section B

Server Rules

These are the rules for appropriate conduct when logged into the Minecraft Server. They are largely in regards to OOC conduct, but some may also have bearing on Roleplay.

1. Keep builds appropriate to a Medieval Fantasy setting. This means no pixel art, modern buildings, futuristic technologies, etc. Aesthetics should be fitting. Staff may remove infractions with warning.

2. Griefing is not allowed on any map. This includes, but is not limited to: Altering builds without permission in any form, marring the landscape via fire/lava/water/misc.. The Resource World is for resource gathering, not for digging messages into the dirt, setting fire to the plains, and/or making lava lakes for your amusement.

3.  OOC theft is against the rules, however ICly players are able to steal from another online player with staff moderation. In order to steal, the player must be reasonably able to react and traces must be left at the scene of the crime. All IC items must have an IC location they are stored in.

4. If you have access to /fly do not abuse it or any other command of the sort. If you are disrupting RP or harassing people, your permissions will be revoked after a warning.

5. Do not use resource packs or client side-mods to give yourself an unfair advantage or to get around rules and permission groups. This is a bannable offence.

6. If you’ve read these rules, please include a mention of one of the towns or cultures found in the Factions & Organizations or World Lore section on the forum in your character background on your application.

7. Be mindful of the servers limitations, farms should not be too overcrowded, entities should be limited within any given chunk, and lag machines of any kind should be reported, anyone found having made a lag machine is subject to an immediate ban.

8. After six months inactivity, any region owned will be put up for auction if a co-owner is not listed. A co-owner cannot name a successor unless they become the primary owner. There will be no guarantee of your possessions, money, or regions still being in place upon your return.

9. Plagiarism of any kind is not allowed, give credit where credit is due, even when using schematic style builds, a simple sign on the exterior of a build will suffice. Respect other’s skins, and do not recreate characters in a 1-to-1 pop culture reference.

Section C

Roleplay Rules

These are rules regarding IC conduct and RP

1. ERP, extensive torture, graphic descriptions of harm or any other inappropriate rp is not allowed on the server. You do not need to go into the gory details of your treatment of a prisoner, nor your consummation of a wedding night. A * Fade to Black * will suffice, we all have imaginations.

2. Meta-gaming, Power-gaming, and alt abuse are all bannable offenses, any reports of these offences will be taken seriously and investigated.

2a. Meta-gaming can include seeing through player disguises immediately, knowing where a player is on the map or knowing the location of a hidden region.

2b. Using false pretense OOC to lure someone to your region, or to a location of your choosing for any reason, also falls under Power-gaming, and will be met with the same punishment.

2c. Your characters should never interact with one another, or be in the same location, even on separate accounts. This includes sharing items directly between characters.

3. During Roleplay, players cannot insert invisible NPCs that benefit their character, players are the main driving force of the stories we are trying to build. If you want to have a character learn a new skill, seek out a player teacher, or go on a solo journey of self discovery. Need a guard? Hire one of the players, and so on and so forth.

3a. NPC’s do exist, as mail carriers, ship captains, farm hands. Anything that people don’t really want to spend time roleplaying as. Use of NPC’s for these matters is acceptable, and expected.

3b. A DM or Player can be requested to play out the role of a guard in a reasonable location.

4. If you do not have the item in your inventory, you do not have it in roleplay. This pertains to items of consequence, such as weapons and armor. This does not pertain to mundane things such as combs or paper

5. Characters who are under the age of maturity cannot engage in combat, relationships, or other various acts of RP that can be deemed graphic for the age groups. Characters that are at the age of 16 are able to partake in violent events but are still required to censor graphic injuries and can join systems. Characters are no longer limited upon reaching the age of 18.

5a. Any roleplay with characters under the age of 18 that involves violence must be censored, or described to the least detail possible.

5b. Child characters, while allowed are discouraged as the limitations on rp are not only strict, but will be enforced, should an issue arise where a player insists on putting child characters into situations breaching the rules, they will face removal from the community.

Section D

Staff Recusal Rules

Recusal is withdrawing yourself from a case or hiring and firing vote or discussion on the grounds that you cannot remain impartial or you present your involvement as a conflict of interest. This includes discussions of these cases or votes. Circumstances that would require one to recuse will be listed below. Initial failure to recuse yourself will result in a moderate breach, and refusal to recuse once you have been asked to will result in a severe breach.

  1. If you engage in romance RP with the person in question, you must recuse yourself from their case or a vote pertaining to them.
  2. If you play a family member IRP of the person in question, you must recuse yourself from their case or a vote pertaining to them.
  3. If you are in a romantic relationship with the person in question, you must recuse yourself from their case or a vote pertaining to them.
  4. If you are otherwise close with the person in question, you must recuse yourself from their case or a vote pertaining to them.
  5. If you fail to recuse on these grounds, as otherwise close might be hard to define, you will always be warned first.
  6. If you are directly involved in the incident, you must recuse yourself from the case and all votes pertaining to the situation.
  7. You may recuse yourself at any point if you feel as though you cannot remain impartial.
