Gospel

A Faithful’s Gospel serves to keep track of all of the magics at their disposal. There are three types of scriptures that will be listed within each Faithful Profile’s Gospel section:

Learned Scriptures

- Faithful have access to all scriptures within their gods / branches of magic.

- This includes all scriptures from each level until now, including custom scriptures.

- They cannot wield all of their learned scriptures at once.

Memorized Scriptures

- These are the scriptures that a Faithful has chosen to wield in a given scenario.

- Faithful can memorize 2 scriptures per Branding level, up to 10 scriptures maximum.

- These can be swapped out with other learned scriptures while outside of CRP.

Custom Scriptures

- Faithful can create custom scriptures, two with each level upon reaching Hero and onward.

- They also have access to a unique form of custom ability starting at Initiate:

Divine Brands

- Each Faithful manifests a unique passive ability starting at Initiate, called a Brand.

- They can either create their own custom brand, or choose one of two pre-written concepts.

- Brands strengthen as the Faithful progresses in rank, to become far more powerful.

- Faithful are tied to these brands as a sign of their commitment to their faith.

Inherent Magic

There are some things that all Faithful are capable of doing, outside of scripture casts.

  • All Faithful can use their magic in purely aesthetic ways for free.

    • This includes things such as making objects float via their chosen divine aesthetic.

    • There is no functional use to this, it is simply for the sake of roleplay interactions.

  • All Faithful can cast a basic 2-block range magic attack via [Body+Faith] roll.

    • This costs no Vitality, acting as a basic attack method with no unique effects.

    • This requires a free hand or a catalyst in hand.

  • All Faithful can spend their action to regain Vitality, via a “Rest Action”.

    • This is achieved by drawing traces of Vitality from their tethered spirit.

    • At the start of their next turn, they will gain 1 Vitality.

  • All Faithful can take time out of combat to channel a Ritual.

    • These are extensive practices meant to contact their Deity to reason or bargain with.
    • The Faithful also gains access to powerful known rituals, passed down by religious sects.
    • This can be used to attempt magical feats far beyond what mere scriptures may allow:

      • Mass magical phenomena, boons, curses, miracles, etc.

      • Singular use magic consumables that unleash magical properties.

      • Powerful enchantments or Relics with limited uses per OOC time.

        • Such items can only use Vitality or Divine Counters if a Smith Faithful assisted.

    • The Faithful must be careful, as the slightest mistake may be disastrous.

    • An event must be requested for rituals, which will typically cost 12+ Vitality.

    • Each Faithful can only participate in a Ritual once every 2 OOC weeks.

    • Multiple Faithful must work together to attempt a Ritual.

    • Rituals may require certain materials, items, or artifacts.

Scriptures

Scriptures are more refined uses of Faithful magic, each with their own unique effects.

These scriptures all cost varying amounts of Vitality, equal to twice their spell level.

A Faithful’s natural Vitality pool refreshes once every 24 OOC hours.

Here is the format for scriptures, as well as the full Faithful scripture list:

Name: - The name of the scripture.
Branch: - The God that pertains to the scripture.
Level/Cost: - The rank of the scripture and its Vitality cost.
Effect: - The primary purpose of the scripture.
Range: - The reach or area of the scripture’s effect(s).
Casting Time: - The action-pool requirements to cast. Uses Action unless stated otherwise. Cannot exceed 3 turns.
Duration: - The time a continuous scripture lasts, can also be maintained through concentration.
Description: - The various effects and purposes of the scripture.
