Below are the many skills and skill combinations within Sonder:[image]
Note that not investing in certain skills does not mean a character is incompetent. For example, someone with no investment in Mind is not necessarily unintelligent.
Investing in Skills
Once you have completed using [/characters], you can use the [/skills] command. This allows you to invest in the skills listed above in several ways: Mind, Body, or General enhances a plethora of skill combinations. It costs 10 points to invest into these skills, and an extra 10 each additional time.- Example: Mind can enhance Deception & Engineering (both use Mind in their rolls).
- Example: Survival enhances Hunting, Tracking, and Foraging (all forms of Survival rolls)
- Example: You can have Focus in Deception for Charisma, which is its Mind combination.
Alternative investments
Certain skills have additional benefits for investing into them:Investing into Survival and Endurance grants resistance to the hinderance of Lethal Wounds. See the Healing & Wound System forum post for more info.
Investing into Education and Intuition adds further benefits to Focus investments. Every additional 2 points in either lets Focus affect an additional use of each skill.
Investing into Dexterity and Athletics provide additional combat prowess with weapons. See the Combat Mechanics forum post for more info.
Rolls
Once you have invested into your skills, you can use the [/skillroll] command. It is used as follows: /skillroll [skill area] [sub-skill] [true/false for Focus] [DC].You input the skills you are using, and for each point in them you gain an additional 1d10 roll. Focus in a skill acts as a modifier, added to a failing roll closest to succeeding. The DC is the value you need to meet or beat to succeed on a roll, 6 is the default overall.
When the command is entered, you will see all of your roll results. A green result is a success, and a blue result is a success based on the Focus modifier.
The DC, number of successes needed, and ways these rolls are used will vary as needed.
