Training
The "Martial" are those who train diligently and with great discipline to perfect their own strength, speed, stamina, and endurance. They aim to master one of the many arts of combat, and delve further into their own mastery of weapons, function, and overall physical ability.

Those who become the Martial may not be as outright powerful as the many magical creatures and practitioners throughout the realm, but their training makes them by far the most efficient machines of war. Their ability to hone their mind and body to its limits pays off in the pursuit of physical perfection.
As the Faithful becomes more in tune with their god, and in return receiving more power, this mark will grow and change with their progression. The Faithful are tasked with upholding the unbreaking tenants of their god, often facing punishment amidst rebellion.

Cost
Martial fighters use their techniques through harnessing their stamina, only so much is able to be expended in a day before causing great fatigue. For simplicity, the Martial have a set amount of stamina that they can spend at each level, equaling their current level. The cost of the techniques they use is equal to its level. Furthermore, and unlike any other system, they regain 1 Stamina at the start of their turns.
  • Example: Initiate Martial Stamina Pool: 1
  • Example: Prodigy Martial Stamina Pool: 3
A Martial’s natural Stamina pool refreshes once every 24 OOC hours, on server reset
Furthermore, and also unlike any other system, Martial fighters can choose to charge up their techniques rather than being forced to. The act of maintaining this charge-up against enemy attacks is called “Poise”. Charging up a technique grants an increase to the rate of success with skill rolls, and possibly more.

Weapon Arts
Martial Fighters can designate a single specific weapon variant, such as a Cutlass, Longbow, or even a shield, in their martial profile. This is the type of weapon they mainly choose to train with, and as a result the fighter becomes far more effective with this type of weapon. Specifically, certain techniques will grant greater benefits when the fighter uses their weapon arts.

Learning

When one undergoes training through various means, their body undergoes a long process of honed capability. Many of the Martial seek to perfect their craft through physical conditioning, sparring, and receiving tutelage from Martial of a higher rank than themselves - such as within guilds. Not all can withstand the necessary strain to perfect the ways of the warrior however.

Custom Techniques
The Martial is allowed to create a custom technique at each rank from Prodigy onward, equaling a total of three custom techniques. However, these custom techniques can also be passive abilities called “Talents” to grant a plethora of smaller yet constant bonuses. The player is allowed to submit these applications along with their rank ups. These techniques must be fully documented on the character’s affliction profile.

Signature Techniques
Upon reaching Grandmaster, a martial fighter is able to hone their mind and body in an impressive display of ability. This “Signature Technique” breaks the conventional rules of techniques entirely, able to be used or to operate in any means the Martial wishes so long as it is limited to their own mundane ability.

Tactics

A Martial’s Tactics serves to keep track of all of the techniques at their disposal. There are three types of techniques that will be listed within each Martial Profile’s Tactics section:

Learned Techniques

- Martial fighters have access to all techniques within their schools / branches of combat.
- This includes all techniques from each level until now, including custom techniques.
- They cannot wield all of their learned techniques at once.

Memorized Techniques

- These are the techniques that a Martial fighter has chosen to wield in a given scenario.
- Martial fighters can memorize 2 techniques per Training level, up to 10 techniques maximum.
- These can be swapped out with other learned techniques while outside of CRP.

Custom Techniques

- Martial fighters can create custom techniques, one with each level upon reaching Prodigy and onward.
- Martial fighters can also teach one another their custom techniques, filling part of their total limit.

Poise

- Each Martial fighter can charge their techniques anywhere between 2-3 turns.
- This lowers the DC of skill rolls by -1 or -2 respectively, increasing the odds of successes.
- However, if the Martial is damaged while charging, they must roll [General+(Skill)] to maintain it.
- Upon a failed Poise save, the technique is interrupted and its stamina is spent without returns.

Rest

- Each Martial fighter can spend their action to regain more Stamina, via a “Rest Action”.
- At the start of their next turn, they will gain 2 Stamina instead of 1.

Techniques

Techniques are refined uses of Martial combat, each with their own unique effects.
These techniques all cost varying amounts of Stamina, equal to their ability level.
