Humans swiftly became the most common species to exist within the world of Volaris. They are a balanced race in terms of strength, agility, intelligence, and other worldly attributes. The largest distinction between the sub races comes from the two ends of the spectrum that they come from. It is not unheard of for humans to intermingle between themselves, muddling their own genetics, nor is it uncommon to find humans in the settlements of the many other races of the world.​

Prior to the collapse, shortly after the Old God discarded the Shifters, humans came to be the most common race to walk the lands. They over took the Elves who were created at the same time through their sheer adaptability to the world. Split between two major factions, the Humans would be divided between Northern and Southern variants.

Traits​

Scavengers - Humans have long since adapted to impoverished circumstances since the collapse. They have a significantly easier time searching for sustenance even in the most dire of environments, and can go through far greater lengths of time without food or water when compared to other races.

Enduring Spirit - Humans have an uncanny ability to fight against the odds of uncertainty, struggling onward as they draw closer to the face of death. When a human reaches 12 HP or lower, they gain the ability to re-roll a single skill roll of their choosing. This can only be used once per 24 OOC hours. This trait can only be used while beneath 12 HP, and cannot be activated if healed

NORTHERNERS

Northern Humans were known to be hardy, living their lives in the cold. In places where air and food were both scarce, Northerners learned to be resourceful. Words were seldom shared in a place where each breath was precious, though it was said they cared deeply for everyone within their villages through their actions.​

In the common era, Northerners share mixed traits with the Southern Humans due to the proximity of living within shared spaces. Some families retain their stoic natures, only speaking fondly of the days long gone and when they will return to the winterlands. Others believe themselves to be adapted to the new ways of the world, like how the Humans of old once did.

Appearance​

There is little distinct differences between Northern and Southern humans, though they are said to be lighter in colour than their warm climate counter-parts. From fairer skins to brighter eyes, even their hair was told to lend to the camouflage in the snowy regions of the world.​

Though they are much more diverse to this day, Northern Humans are still the only branch that hold a thinly spread bloodline to have eyes of red. They tend to be stockier in nature, both taller on average and seemingly with a more naturally defined physique.

SOUTHERNERS

Southern Humans became synonymous with warmer climates and sunny beaches, though this was not necessarily true. While there are claims that Shifters were banished to the desert long before the collapse, many Southerners called such scorching lands home. Their world was no less harsh than that of their winter counter-parts, though they learned as communities to share what resources they had amongst their same people, no matter what village they might have been from.

Within Sanctuary, after the collapse, the distinction between northern and southern becomes more lost to time. It is believed that one could spot Southern blood by they way they invite others into their homes as family, though such a trait does not belong solely to the Southerners.

Appearance​

Marked by a darker complexion, Southern Humans are far more likely to appear rich in not only skin tone, but every part of their essence. From honied eyes, to those of ebony, and lush greens, they are said to be a vibrant people in appearance. Their hair is where they become less colourful, finding that they have darker and more neutral tones.

Diversity of Humans has worked in both ways, giving way for lighter appearing Southerners. They are not known to have any traits distinctly their own, but their cultures have spoken volumes before their visage. Notably, Southerners are shorter on average, tend to have curlier hair, and grow the men grow less facial hair.
