The Revival System
The end of a life is not considered the end of a journey. Although death may carry those who have fallen, everyone is believed to be given another chance at showing they still have a purpose in this world. Whether this be through the effect of their righteousness or their sins, they all may undergo the miracle of revival.
When traveling through the doors of death, the being cannot recall why, how, or when they died. Events leading up to their death become blurred. What they do recall may not be correct in the slightest. Any figures, faces, friend or foe alike become a black fragment to remember, shattered and unreadable. These lapses in memory can appear as far back as the leading cause to what resulted in their death, be it hours, days, or weeks.
The constraints are the same once returning to the living with the only difference being the victim will remember nothing from their time in the afterlife.

Appearance and Existence
When in life, people often have a purpose. However, even in death they may still attempt to make change.
Notable Ghosts are unable to impart memories or otherwise share information surrounding their death, and upon returning to life they have no memories of anything that took place during their period of transition. Physically all ghosts appear as androgynous wraiths, with only their mannerisms as a tell of who they once were.
These Ghosts are often referred to as Wraiths, Shadows or even just an Ominous Smoke, able to phase through walls and otherwise exist as an incorporeal spirit similar to a poltergeist.
System:
- While among the dead, you may still play your character, but as a ghost
- As a ghost, you cannot speak. However, you can act as you wish.
- You will not be able to interact with or change your surroundings.
- Players may wish to stay in this form as long as they wish, or until they revive.
Appearance:
- The dead take on a ghastly form, appearing in a way that makes them indistinguishable.
- There are a selection of skins below that you may choose to use. Please refrain from editing these.
- While roaming the wild, they will not naturally be perceived by the living.
Interacting and Perception
Detecting The Beyond
Though it is impossible for a ghost to interact with the world, there are ways for them to be perceived by the living. Those who are skilled with Arcana or blessed by their Faith have a greater sense for the supernatural. However, for those who do not fall into these special abilities, the ghost may attempt to force their magic through the boundaries making it easier for them to be detected. Typically, those closest to the dead, such as family, friends and lovers, will be the ones to seek them.
System:
- Every ghost is able to be detected by another player around them. To do so, the ghost and player must be within 3 blocks of each other.
- To detect a ghost, the player must roll either [Mind + Arcana] or [Mind + Faith] and have 5+ successes to perceive the ghost.
- For context, rolling for stealth in death converts to the equal and opposite of that in life.
- If the ghost rolls 3+ successes, the player rolling their Arcana/Faith will only require 2+ successes to perceive the ghost.
- If the ghost is successfully detected, the player may be able to see their movements and ghastly appearance. They will not be able to distinguish who the ghost is by looks, but by actions instead. The dead also are unable to speak or interact with their surroundings even still. Sadly they are not even able to hold their loved ones.
Necromancy
Through the supernatural means of life and death, those gifted with specific power may call upon the dead to serve them as they wish. This feat is extremely difficult to succeed in where most who try will often fail. Even those who have managed to subdue the dead often find it difficult to control them. If the dead are not led correctly, they may retaliate against their commander, sometimes making them a dangerous combatant until their command is complete.
When a person dies, their experience is carried with them. However, in death they will never be able to progress further. Their skill remains the same, hence a skilful fighter may be both beneficial but also very risky depending on the commander.

System:
- The Necromancer is referred to as the living commander of the dead.
- A player may only become a necromancer if they are able to use Life/Death Enkindled Magic or if they are The Faithful to The Mother/Executioner.
- At Tier 2, they will have the chance to use both of their Level 2 Custom Spell slots to be able to become The Necromancer. This will need to be done and confirmed by The Systems Team
- A Necromancer may only be able to command the dead with OOC consent.

Methods of Revival
The Divine
The Divine themselves often seek to meddle in the affairs of mortals.
When a follower of one of the Gods is felled, there is a chance that they will pluck their souls from the Well of Souls and return them to the realm of the living.
This is of course, at the whims of the Gods, and as such can not be counted on to always return a loved one to us, but whenever they do smile upon us, it is surely seen as a blessing.

System:
- A player may apply to be revived by making a ticket to The Systems Team.
- A -1 modifier is applied per death the player has had.
- (Faithful Level 1 = +1 Modifier, Faithful Level 5 = +5 Modifier)
- A -1 modifier is applied per death the player has had.
- If the rolled value is less than 5, the player will have to go through The Natural Balance to be revived. They will not be given the opportunity to be revived through any other method within this time of death.
Quests of Divinity
Players may seek to petition a god, through prayer, sacrifice or or however they see fit. If a godling responds in this manner, a quest is granted to either the character petitioning or the one they are trying to revive. Additionally, a ghost may also seek to petition a god for their own revival.
System:
- A living player or group of players may partake in an event or series of events to revive someone.
- Or, a dead player can partake in an event or series of events to revive themselves.
- This revival system may vary in time depending on how long the quest takes to complete.
The Servants of Faith - The Faithful
Those who are blessed by their faith, specifically by The Mother or The Executioner, can hold the ability to draw upon the divine energies that flow through them, pulling the dead back into the realm of the living. The ways in which this is done varies depending on their deity.
System:
- See the related revival rituals for The Mother and The Executioner in The Faithful Forums
Arcanic Revival - The Enkindled
The use of the Arcane is a mystic and cryptic arc, there is no currently known manner in which an Enkindled mage has managed to claw someone’s soul from the Well of Souls, but such theories have been shared among the scholarly class. Should an Enkindled wish to devote themselves to the act of selflessness, and saving others, it is theorized that they may craft a spell to draw a soul back to life. But only time will tell if such is ever truly achieved.
System:
- A Life or Death mage may have a Level 5 Custom spell which is able to, on condition, revive a player.
- This will need to be approved by The Systems Team - via Discord Tickets
The Child’s Game
Where most Gods are reasonable, The Children Of The Forest only seek to cause mischief for their own amusement. They find that the dead are the most suitable to treat as guinea pigs, as test subjects for their fun. While meddling with their souls, they may choose to reincarnate the dead into a new living body. However, there is no guarantee on what constraints the victim will have to withstand.
System:
- While roaming the wild, the dead player may come across The Children Of The Forest.
- The menacing bunch (A.K.A. The Systems Team) will spin a wheel to decide the fate of their reincarnated life.
- If the Race is Shifter, the Systems team - with permission - can spin for the animal they will be able to shift into.
- Reincarnated characters will have to be 18+ in age.
The Natural Balance
The world is one of balance, moving to the wills of forces unseen even to the Gods. In rare circumstances, these forces deem certain souls necessary for something they have yet to achieve, in such an event, a character can be brought back to life in a way unique to them.
System:- A Revival of balance occurs when a player has no other means of revival to make use of. In such an event, the wills of the very world itself manifest to bring a character back.
- Revival of this nature takes 1 OOC Week per death of a character applying to it, but has no other requirement to apply for.
A New Famine - The Hunger
A Hunger who is killed by any permanent means is subject to all the above methods of revival.
Should a Hunger be present for the immediate passing of another they may attempt to claw them back to a realm of life. By decanting a drop of their own blood into the corpse of the player, they may have them undergo the process of becoming a Hunger, and clawing their way back from death. This renders the recently deceased player as a Hunger and enters them into that system.

- A Hunger player may only attempt this style of revival within 3 OOC hours of a character death.
- The Revival follows the standard turning process for a Hunger, having the deceased player becoming a Hunger after 6 OOC hours.
